Archibald Rose
Archibald Rose was born on the Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland where his Baptism was recorded in 1832. The Ross of Mull Historical Centre is an excellent source of information on the locale and related families.
He emigrated with his father, Allen to the Chatham-Kent area of Ontario, before settling in Hay Creek, Goodhue County, Minnesota. He served in the Civil War and his service is documented in an extensive Pension File kept in the National Archives.
Archibald married Esther Stevens before 1856. Esther died in 1861 leaving two young sons. Archibald then married Ellen Suiter, in 1863, with whom he had nine more children.
Archibald is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery. Ellen Suiter Rose is buried in Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins, Colorado.
